Jiandyin (Thailand)

Jiandyin (jiradej and Pornpilai Meemalai) live and work in Ratchaburi, Thailand jiradej obtained MFA from Silpakorn University. Pornpilai obtained MA from Royal College of Art, UK. Since 2002 Jiandyin are interdisciplinary collaborative artists. Their works focus on creating situation that constructs relationships between human and human in relation to his/her social context. In 2010, they initiated an ongoing research and development project “Dialogue: Seeing and Being”, an interactive performance base drawing project in public space: We are Going to Taipei 2012, We Are Going to Umbria, Italy, We Are Going to Berlin 2013. They were awarded a fellowship grant from the Asian Cultural Council, NY, in 2009 and were artists in residence at Headlands Center for the Arts, San Francisco; International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP), NY 2010; Treasure Hill Artist Village, Taipei, Taiwan 2012; Civitella Ranieri Center, Umbria Italy; Lichtenberg Studios, Berlin, Germany 2013. Solo exhibition include We Are Going to Taipei, Barry Room, Taipei Artist Village, Taipei, Taiwan, 2012, Too Close to See, Kokoro Studio San Francisco, 2010. Group exhibition include THAI TAI : A Measure of Understanding, BACC Bangkok / URS21 Taipei; The Exotika 2013 Kunstverein Tiergarten | Galerie Nord Berlin; REACTIVATION 9th Shanghai Biennale; 14th Asiatopia international performance art festival, Bangkok; 5th OK Video FLESH Indonesia International Video Festival, Jakarta. They co-curated OCAC Bangkok project; Thaitai: A Measure of Understanding between Taipei/Bangkok 2012-2014; curated Nongpo Short films(animations) Festival #1-2; METRO SAPIENS: Dialogue in the Cave, Ratchaburi; POP-UP MUSEUM : contemporary art exhibition, Ratchaburi. They initiated Baan Noorg, an initiative of contemporary art and culture development for Nongpo community, Ratchaburi.
